Digital task cards are a great tool for teachers. Although they’ve been around for years, I discovered them during the pandemic. Like so many educators, I was forced into the deep end of digital tools for distance learning. However, tech integration is here to stay, and this is a tool that I would use regardless!
I loved how easy they were to use and how they had so many benefits. Today I’ll discuss the five reasons you should use digital task cards.
- They’re perfect for distance learning

Digital task cards are great for distance learning because they can be accessed and used anywhere. Students can use them after your lessons as practice and reinforcement.
2. They increase practice turns and feedback
A valuable tool for increasing mastery is providing practice turns and feedback. Digital tools multiply the amount of feedback students can receive. More feedback helps all students, and can benefit students with disabilities greatly as well.
3. They’re fun
This reason is obvious–kids love working on task cards! Kids stay engaged because this activity helps game-ify learning. The satisfaction of getting a card right and moving on to the next card is real! When kids are having fun, they’re much more motivated to learn.
4. They are no-prep
The struggles over printing, laminating, cutting, and sorting are all taken care of when you go digital. I love old fashioned sort cards and think that anything hands-on is a great tool for students.
5. They make it easy to collect data
When you complete digital task cards, the data is immediately provided to you as a teacher. This data can be used to guide your instruction and tailor your future lessons. You can avoid the time-consuming hand grading of paper worksheets.
