If you’re an English teacher, you might already know that there is a treasure trove of professional development located right on one of your favorite apps. Instagram is a great place to connect with other English teachers, share ideas, and build community.
These are some of the best accounts to follow for everything ELA on Instagram.
Instagram English teachers– Elementary ELA
@4thgradeunicorns is a fun follow. I particularly love the way she reviews and displays kid lit on her page. She also shares quite a bit about her personal life and comfy teacher outfits. I highly recommend giving her a follow!

@schoolandthecity has fun classroom ideas as well as pretty hilarious teacher memes inspired by Sex and the City. She is very active on stories, and I love hearing her updates. Check her out!

@cootiesandcuties is a 4th grade teacher and creator. Her classroom is bright, beautiful, and full of positivity. She shares a lot of her “unlock” whiteboard games, which have become a popular review method for many topics.

Instagram English teachers–Middle School ELA
@studyallknight is a talented designer with a huge array of ELA activities in her store. She is especially known for collaborative posters, which are beautiful displays for any classroom. You will love her Instagram feed!

@thesuperheroteacher is a great follow for middle school ELA teachers. She creates beautiful ELA workbooks on many topics, including growth mindset and bellringer journals. She also showcases the many classrooms she has flipped. Brittany is an inspiration and lives up to her name!

@readitwriteitlearnit shares wonderful curriculum ideas for everything middle school ELA. I especially love how she breaks things down on her stories. It’s clear that she cares about rigorous curriculum and solid pedagogy.

@readingandwritinghaven is another content expert! I love her colorful feed as well has her teaching tips and blog posts. She is always on the cutting edge of ideas for the ELA classroom. Give her a follow!

Instagram English teachers–High School ELA
@stacey.lloyd has created a beautiful range of figurative language posters and literature workbooks. If you teach high school English, you should be following her!

@buildingbooklove is a resource designer who shares beautiful images from her classroom, which is full of Harry Potter references and reasons for kids to love learning. Her resources include a Serial podcast unit plan!

@thetownieteacher is an amazing high school English teacher. Her account is private, but you can connect with her if you send her a DM. Her stories are always some of my favorites. I’m also so inspired by her willingness to share her resources for free, as well as her beautifully decorated classroom (Stranger Things fans, check her out!)

Book Recommendations
@ramonarecommends is a 3rd grade teacher and picture book expert. She has a book for every situation. She recently posted about how she uses the book Turtle and Tortoise Are Not Friends to teach procedures at the beginning of the school year. She has a true love for books and teaching reading. Check her out!

@thebookwrangler is a school library media specialist. He shares diverse reads and has great ideas for creating a culture of reading. He’s also an impressive designer!

Laughs
@teachermisery is the queen of teacher meme accounts. I can’t count how many times I’ve saved her posts and tagged friends, along with the crying laughing emoji. She is frank and unapologetic about the misery teachers face. She even has a few books on the subject–if you like her account, you should give them a read–I couldn’t put them down!

@mrdtimes3 is one of my go-to recommendations for funny teacher accounts. You might have seen his April Fools spelling test that went viral, even landing him on the Ellen show. Now he travels the nation doing shows…I hope to see him some day!

@eddiebcomedy talks to the camera, asking “is it too early to take a day off?” and other musings that you will most definitely relate to. My coworkers and I gather around our phones whenever we see that Eddie has posted a new video–they’re such a treat.

I also have an instagram account @readrelevant and I would love to connect with more teachers. This year I’m sharing the resources I create as well as my travels (I’m traveling to 12 countries in 12 months).
